Our Flush

First Flush
The first flush represents the first tea harvest. This is the most sought-after Darjeeling tea.
This tea consists of the brand new tea leaves and buds picked in the earliest spring growth of the plant. This happens as early as February and often lasts through April. These early leaves are more delicate and tender, producing light and fresh flavors with floral undertones.
To preserve the spring leaf flavor, Darjeeling first flush teas are generally less oxidized during processing. As a result, they may appear more green in color than a typical black tea.
Darjeeling's first flush tea is some of the most prized and expensive tea on the market. It is so special and exclusive that tea connoisseurs consider the first harvest from this region to be the “champagne” of teas.

Second flush
The second flush is picked as early as April and runs through May or June.
The tea are more mature and yield larger leaves. These have a purplish hue and silver tips. The leaf growth during this period is much more rapid than the early spring growth.
These larger, fast-growing leaves offer a stronger yet smoother flavor for the finished tea. Teas from this flush are known for their full-bodied, muscatel, and fruity flavor profile.
The Monsoon Flush
The monsoon flush runs from June or July through to October. This harvest yields large leaves that brew into a stronger color and bolder flavor.
Monsoon harvest tea is less complex or nuanced than the previous flushes. Teas from this flush are often used for iced tea and commercial tea bag production.

Third Flush
The third Autumnal flush happens in October and November. The finished tea from this harvest boasts a rich copper-colored liquor that is full-bodied, nutty, and smooth in flavor. Third flush Darjeeling is for those who prefer stronger and bolder infusions.
Leaf growth slows down during this period, where the tea plant squeezes out the last of what it has to offer before it goes dormant for the winter.
